Service Description

ISS Space Science Workshop How many kids can say they have conducted their own experiments on NASA's International Space Station? Welcome to a unique opportunity that will not only fascinate students with outer space research but also provide a significant resume differentiator. The ISS Space Science Workshop allows students to learn, present, and be certified for running their own experiments on the International Space Station (ISS). This innovative STEM program, aligned with Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), prepares students for the final frontier—space. Workshop Highlights Hands-On Space Research: Scientific Experiments on the ISS - Design and execute experiments in a microgravity environment. NGSS-Aligned Curriculum - Focuses on essential physical science concepts such as gravity, motion, heat, radiation, and humidity. Skill Development: Scientific Method: Conduct research, formulate hypotheses, and run experiments while keeping a detailed journal of observations and learnings. Arduino Programming and Circuit Building: Use Arduino to program experiments and build ground units to collect scientific data. Unique Learning Experience: Data Analysis: Upload code to space units, download data back, and compare with hypotheses to draw conclusions. Presentation Skills: Present experiment goals, processes, and learnings to peers and instructors. Grade Level: 7-9 Course Content Module 1: Introduction to Space Science Basic Physics in Space- Explore fundamental concepts such as gravity, heat transfer, and motion in the context of space. Module 2: Experiment Design and Execution Experiment Design Documentation - Learn to create comprehensive experiment plans. Arduino Programming - Develop and program experiments using Arduino Kit. Module 3: Data Collection and Analysis Building Ground Units - Assemble circuits and breadboards to collect data. Microgravity Experiments: Run and monitor experiments aboard the ISS. Module 4: Reporting and Presentation Scientific Method - Keep journals, analyze data, and validate hypotheses. Final Presentation - Prepare and present findings. Duration: 12 hrs (4 Days, 4 classes, 3hrs each) - 2 Weekends Kit: All materials and kits provided during workshop. Schedule Day 1: Life at ISS, Introduction to Micro gravity, heat. Day 2: Scientific Method, modes of heat transfer. Day 3: Build ISS Ground kit and run experiment. Day 4: Analyze ISS Results and Conclude Scientific Journals, Presentation.
